Brand Guidelines
How to refer to Ilmiya and use approved logos without misleading people.
These guidelines explain how to use the Ilmiya name, logos and other brand assets. Written permission or a signed agreement may set additional requirements. Partners should also read the Reseller Agreement.
An authorized white-label offering may use the institution’s or reseller’s own brand without displaying Ilmiya’s name or logo. Required legal and privacy disclosures, and applicable proprietary notices, must remain available. These guidelines govern any Ilmiya assets that are used; they do not require Ilmiya co-branding.
License and Applicability
A specific license or signed agreement governs the uses it expressly permits. These guidelines cover other uses of Ilmiya’s marks. Permission is non-exclusive and may be exercised only by its recipient and anyone the applicable agreement authorizes. The Reseller Agreement’s permission for authorized downstream participants remains in force. A white-label presentation or curriculum license does not itself grant ownership of an Ilmiya mark.
Our Trademarks
Ilmiya’s marks include the Ilmiya word mark, the Ilmiya Logo and Icon, product and service names, and distinctive design elements or trade dress used to identify its offerings. These guidelines cover trademarks, service marks and other supplied brand assets. Ownership and goodwill remain with the relevant rights holder as set out below.
Permitted Uses
You may use the Ilmiya name in ordinary text to identify our products or describe a genuine relationship with us. A description of compatibility or integration must be accurate and must not imply that Ilmiya approved, certified or sponsored your product unless we have done so in writing.
Keep your own name and identity clear. Do not present your website, product or communication as an official Ilmiya service. These guidelines do not limit lawful reporting, commentary, criticism or other uses that do not require our permission under applicable law.
You may link to Ilmiya’s website, make an accurate educational description of the service, and exercise the brand permissions granted in your applicable agreement. These uses must preserve the distinction between your own offering and any relationship you have with Ilmiya.
On your website, application or promotional material, keep your own identity prominent. Do not display an Ilmiya mark more prominently than your own brand unless the applicable permission allows it. A reference to Ilmiya must relate accurately to the relevant service or relationship.
Logo Specifications
Use the files made available in our Brand Kit for an authorized purpose. A download gives you access to an asset; permission to use it comes from the terms accompanying the asset, written approval, or an applicable agreement.
When displaying an approved logo:
- Preserve its proportions and use an approved color version.
- Leave enough clear space for the logo to be distinct and readable.
- Choose a background that provides sufficient contrast.
- Follow any size or placement instructions supplied with the asset or your written approval.
Use a minimum height of 24 pixels for digital display or 0.5 inches in print, unless supplied asset instructions or written permission specify otherwise. The logo must remain legible.
Do not redraw the logo, add visual effects, animate it, or combine it into another mark without written approval. Use the Ilmiya name as text where a logo would be too small to read. Where a logo conveys information, provide an appropriate text alternative for people using assistive technology.
Unauthorized changes include distortion, recoloring, rotation, skewing, outlines and added shadows.
Prohibited Uses
You must not use an Ilmiya mark to suggest an endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation that Ilmiya has not authorized, or to impersonate Ilmiya. Registering a confusing company name, product name, domain or social media handle, or creating a derivative mark, requires permission where it uses Ilmiya’s protected rights. Do not abbreviate, pluralize or translate a mark into a different mark without permission, or place added words or elements beside it so that it appears to be a new combined mark.
Merchandise and advertising must remain within the permission granted by these guidelines or an applicable agreement. Do not use the marks in misleading or unlawful material. These restrictions preserve lawful commentary, criticism and other uses permitted independently by law.
Uses that require permission
An active Reseller Agreement permits ordinary advertising, reseller campaigns and accurate statements of reseller status under its intellectual-property terms, without separate approval for each use. For other uses, obtain our approval before using Ilmiya assets in advertising, promotional merchandise or a co-branded campaign unless another written agreement already permits the use. You must also obtain approval before including an Ilmiya mark in a company name, product name, domain or social media account name in a way that suggests an official connection.
Do not use our assets to mislead people about a commercial relationship or to support an unlawful activity. A permission expressly limited to one campaign or placement does not authorize a different use.
Attribution and Ownership
Ilmiya retains its rights in the Ilmiya marks. Authorized use does not transfer ownership. Any goodwill created through your licensed use belongs to the owner of the relevant mark.
When an attribution is appropriate, use: “Ilmiya is a trademark of Ilmiya, Inc.” Use the trademark symbols shown in the approved asset. Do not add the registration symbol ® unless Ilmiya has confirmed that the particular mark is registered for the relevant goods or services in the relevant territory.
Permission Requests and Enforcement
Contact support@ilmiya.com. Describe the proposed use and where it will appear. A draft image or link helps us review the request. Silence is not permission.
Include the proposed duration and allow 10 business days for review. A mock-up may help explain the intended placement.
If a use exceeds permission we have granted, we may require it to be corrected or stopped in accordance with the applicable agreement and law. The terms of a signed license govern its termination. We may take steps available under law to address infringement or misleading use.
Ilmiya may review use of its marks and, where the applicable permission allows it, withdraw that permission by written notice with a reasonable period to stop the use. An unlawful or misleading use must cease promptly.
Changes to These Guidelines
We may revise these guidelines and update the review date. Changes do not expand or revoke rights in a signed agreement except through that agreement’s change process. They also do not restrict rights that applicable law gives you independently of our permission.
