<a id="navigating-canvas"></a>

## Navigating Canvas

Canvas has a clean layout built around the Quran. The home screen has tabs across the top:

| Tab | What it opens |
| --- | --- |
| **Quran** | The main Quran reading and navigation interface (default) |
| **Stats** | Personal statistics — heatmap, hours, pages, rank, streak |
| **Radio** | Stream Quran recitations continuously |
| **Settings** | Customize your font, reciter, translation, and theme |

<a id="sidebar-navigation"></a>

### Sidebar Navigation

The sidebar on the left gives you three ways to navigate:

| Sidebar Tab | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| **Surah** | All 114 Surahs listed by number and name |
| **Juz** | All 30 Juz (Para) divisions |
| **Page** | All 604 Mushaf pages |

Click any item to jump directly to that Surah, Juz, or Page.

<a id="bottom-toolbar"></a>

### Bottom Toolbar

The toolbar at the bottom of the reading area contains audio controls, drawing tools, and the mode switcher — switch between Read, Translate, Recite, Judge, Tafsir, and Memorize modes.

> **Tip**
>
> Use **Surah** when you know which Surah you want. Use **Page** when following along with a physical Mushaf. Use **Juz** for systematic revision.

<a id="browsing-the-quran"></a>

## Browsing the Quran

Canvas gives you four ways to navigate the full Quran:

| Method | Best for |
| --- | --- |
| **By Surah** | When you know which chapter you want to read |
| **By Juz** | Systematic revision across the full Quran (30 parts) |
| **By Page** | Following along with a physical Mushaf (pages 1–604) |
| **By Verse** | Jumping directly to a specific Ayah |

<a id="by-surah"></a>

### By Surah

1. Choose **Surah** in the left sidebar.
2. All 114 Surahs are listed with their number, Arabic name, and English name.
3. Click any Surah to open it in the reading area.

<a id="by-juz"></a>

### By Juz

1. Open the **Juz** tab in the left sidebar.
2. Click a Juz to open it — you’ll see all the Surahs and verses it contains.

Each Juz typically spans multiple Surahs. The display picks up exactly where that Juz begins, even if it starts mid-Surah.

<a id="by-page"></a>

### By Page

1. Choose **Page** in the left sidebar.
2. Click a page number to jump directly to that page.

Canvas supports a **dual-page view** — displaying two Mushaf pages side by side, mirroring the layout of a physical Quran.

<a id="individual-verse"></a>

### Individual Verse

Click on any verse to see a detailed view with full translation, transliteration, and Tafsir. You can also copy, share, or save the verse, or view similar verses that repeat the same phrase elsewhere in the Quran.

<a id="reading-modes"></a>

## Reading Modes

Canvas offers six reading modes, each designed for a different purpose. Switch between them using the mode switcher in the bottom toolbar.

| Mode | Purpose |
| --- | --- |
| **Read** | Clean Arabic text for focused reading |
| **Translate** | Arabic with word-by-word translation and transliteration |
| **Tafsir** | Arabic with scholarly commentary and interpretation |
| **Recite** | Record and evaluate your recitation with AI feedback |
| **Judge** | Review your previous recitation errors on the text |
| **Memorize** | Progressive word-reveal for memorization practice |

<a id="read-mode"></a>

### Read Mode

The default mode. Displays Arabic text with Tajweed colouring — designed for focused, uninterrupted reading.

<a id="translate-mode"></a>

### Translate Mode

Displays each verse with Arabic text, **transliteration** (romanized pronunciation guide), and **translation** in your selected language. Tap any word to see its individual translation and grammatical role.

<a id="tafsir-mode"></a>

### Tafsir Mode

Displays the Arabic text alongside **Tafsir** — scholarly interpretation and commentary for each verse. Multiple Tafsir sources may be available depending on your organization’s configuration.

<a id="recite-mode"></a>

### Recite Mode

Activates the AI recitation evaluation system. You record yourself reciting a verse and receive instant feedback on Tajweed errors, verbal errors, Waqf errors, and memorization errors.

<a id="judge-mode"></a>

### Judge Mode

Overlays your **saved recitation errors** directly on the Quranic text. Words you previously mispronounced are colour-coded so you can see exactly where your weaknesses are.

<a id="memorize-mode"></a>

### Memorize Mode

Progressively covers words in the verse, challenging you to recall them from memory. Words are revealed one at a time as you progress.

> **Tip**
>
> You can switch modes at any time without losing your place. The same verse stays visible when you switch.

<a id="font-size"></a>

### Font Size

Canvas offers **4 size levels** — Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large. Adjust from the Settings tab or the toolbar while reading.

<a id="translation-language"></a>

### Translation Language

When using Translate mode, Canvas displays a translation beneath each verse. Select your preferred translation language from the settings.

Toggle Tajweed colouring on or off from the display settings. It is on by default in Read and Recite modes.

<a id="theme"></a>

### Theme

Canvas supports **light** and **dark** themes — switch from the Settings tab to reduce eye strain during extended reading sessions.
