# Lesson Player

The Lesson Player is where learning happens. When you open a lesson, it launches the player — a focused, interactive session that walks you through each element of the lesson one at a time.

<a id="how-a-lesson-works"></a>

## How a Lesson Works

1. Click a lesson from a course or assignment to launch the player.
2. Each lesson is made up of individual **elements** — questions, activities, or media.
3. You move through elements one by one — answer a question, then proceed to the next.
4. A **progress bar** at the bottom shows how far through the lesson you are.
5. When you complete all elements, you’ll see your **results summary**.

## Question & Activity Types

Somewhere around 40 distinct subtypes are registered, or about 30 if you group shared-component variants together (for example, Fact Fluency’s four operations all share one component). Roughly:

| Category | Types |
| --- | --- |
| **Multiple Choice** | Single answer, multi-select, draggable choices, true/false |
| **Written Response** | Short answer, fill in the blank, writing notes, read & write |
| **Sorting & Matching** | Drag and drop sorting, sort list, sort image pairs, bucket sort, image sorting, connect letters, drag test, drag audio |
| **Listening & Speaking** | Audio questions, read and speak, pronunciation practice, talking avatar |
| **Visual & Drawing** | Drawing/sketching pad, trace letter, canvas puzzle, fill colors |
| **Media** | Video tutorial, image tutorial, audio clip, PDF viewer |
| **Flashcards** | Card flip for memorization practice |
| **AI Conversation** | Scripted two-speaker dialogue, live chat with an AI agent |
| **Rich Content** | HTML content blocks (also called “editor” internally — same component, two names) |
| **Translation** | Type your translation into a text box — there’s no language-pair selector |
| **Fact Fluency** | Timed math drills — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division |
| **Exercise Notes** | Freeform notes attached to an exercise |

> **Note**
>
> Not every lesson uses all types. Your teacher decides which element types appear in each lesson.

<a id="progress-bar"></a>

## Progress Bar

The progress bar at the bottom of the player is divided into **chunks** — each chunk represents a group of elements. As you complete elements, the bar fills up so you can always see how much is left.

<a id="answering-questions"></a>

## Answering Questions

- Select or type your answer, then click **Check** — the button’s default label.
- After checking, the button changes to **Continue** if you got it right, or **Try Again** / **Next** (depending on the element) if you got it wrong.
- If the lesson allows skipping, a **Skip** button appears after a wrong answer.
- You’ll get **immediate feedback** — correct or incorrect — before moving on.
- Some elements allow retries; others move you forward regardless of your answer.

<a id="streaks--coins"></a>

## Streaks & Coins

- Answering questions correctly in a row builds a **streak**.
- Maintaining a streak earns bonus **coins** — animated on screen when triggered.
- Streaks reset if you answer incorrectly, depending on the lesson settings.

> **Tip**
>
> Focus and consistency pays off — longer streaks mean more points and coins earned per lesson.

<a id="exiting-a-lesson"></a>

## Exiting a Lesson

- Click the **X** button to leave the lesson at any time.
- A confirmation modal appears with two options: **Keep Learning** (stay in the lesson) or **End Session** (exit now).
- Your progress up to that point is saved either way — you can resume from where you left off.

<a id="results-summary"></a>

## Results Summary

After completing all elements, you’ll see your results — grade, accuracy, mastery, points, and trophy — plus a question-by-question breakdown, your attempt history, and the lesson leaderboard. See [Lesson Report](https://ilmiya.com/docs/campus/learning/lesson-report/) for the full breakdown of what each card and tab shows.

On a completed lesson’s results screen, clicking **Retake** opens a confirmation modal with two options: **Continue Lesson** — cancels the restart and keeps you on the results screen, it does _not_ resume any progress — or **Restart Lesson** — actually starts a new attempt from the beginning.

Your score is automatically saved and reflected in [Grades](https://ilmiya.com/docs/campus/learning/courses-and-pathways/) under Courses & Pathways.
