# Messages

**Messages** are question threads you open with your teacher or school staff — not a direct one-on-one chat with another student or user. There’s no recipient field: your thread goes to your organization’s staff/admin pool, and any teacher or admin can pick it up and reply.

## Accessing Messages

1.  Click the **Inbox** icon in the top bar.
2.  Click **Full Inbox** at the bottom of the dropdown.
3.  Select the **Messages** tab. Your existing threads are listed here, sorted by most recent activity.

## Starting a New Thread

1.  Click the **+** button in the Messages tab.
2.  Enter a **Subject** for your question.
3.  Type your **Message**.
4.  Click **Send**.

> **Note**
>
> There’s no “To” or recipient field — you can’t address a specific teacher or classmate. Your thread is visible to your organization’s staff/admin pool, not one individual.

A new thread appears at the top of your Messages list once you send it.

## Replying in a Thread

1.  Click on any existing thread in the Messages tab to open it.
2.  Type your reply in the input at the bottom of the thread.
3.  Click **Send**.

## Thread Status

Each thread is either:

-   **OPEN** — waiting for or receiving replies
-   **RESOLVED** — marked resolved by a teacher or admin

> **Note**
>
> Only a teacher or admin can mark a thread as resolved — you can’t close your own thread. If you reply to a resolved thread, it automatically reopens.

## Managing Your Messages

| Action | How to do it |
| --- | --- |
| Find an old thread | Scroll through the Messages list or use the search bar |
| Read a thread | Click the thread to open it |
| Start a new thread | Click the **+** button, then fill in a Subject and Message |

> **Caution**
>
> Do not share personal information, passwords, or sensitive data in a message thread.
